tiaraicon{Scarf Sunday} Colourful for Autumn

Skirt, Scarf (worn as a belt) & Turtleneck- Thrifted; Heels- Priceless Shoes UK; Necklace- Gifted; Nail Polish- Stiletto Red by Rimmel
Remember that bright colour combination, perfect for fall that I mentioned? Well this outfit sums it up- wine red, mustard yellow and turquoise.  I was inspired by the colours from this thrifted scarf (worn as a belt) and the pieces just came together.  These photos were taken before I wore the outfit out so I changed up my shoes (to a brown pair) and added a turquoise beret which completed the look (but unfortunately the 'photographer' didn't want to re-shoot the look so you'll have to use your imaginations!) I actually received a few compliments on this look, including my boss who asked that I take her shopping to inject some colour into her mainly black wardrobe.  In need of a colourful intervention? I'm your girl!

tiaraiconscarf sunday - polka dotted gypsy woman

Pants- Gap (Thrifted); Purse- Thrifted; Top- Spoof; Scarf- Vintage; Heels- Spring; Bracelets- Zellers; Nail Polish- Vintage by Revlon
My outfit's polka dots may be subtle but they're present so I'm linking up to Silverstyle's Trending Through the Decades: Polka Dots Challenge (psst if you haven't already checked out her blog, head on over, you won't be disappointed!) I bought this dramatically sleeved blouse for $7 brand-new at a quirky little boutique named Spoof on my recent trip to Toronto.  I paired it with these pale pink thrifted Gap trousers and burgundy coloured peep toed heels that I've had for years.  I am a huge fan of scarves, I gravitate towards the scarves and belts immediately while thrifting or vintage shopping.  I wore this outfit to a family luncheon a couple of weeks ago with the scarf tied around my purse's strap but I also really like the scarf on my head reminiscent of a gypsy (although if you've watched the strangely addictive reality show My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding you'll know what I mean when I say I'm wearing way too much clothing and not enough glitz and glam for them!)

Check out my other polka dotted looks here, here and here!

Pants & Vest Set- Thrifted; Ring-Aldo; Bracelet- Montreal (can't remember store); Scarf- London (can't remember store); Flats- Winners; Nail Polish- Violet by Revlon

I hadn't set foot on a bike in over a decade until a month ago when my main man decided that it was high time I  accompanied him on bike rides.  I just wanted a simple bike that would get me from point a to b so we picked up this adorable (and affordable!) powder blue bike at Walmart.  Except the women's bikes felt too large so we bought the girls' version (which looking at these photos may be a wee bit too small...)

The first time we went for a bike ride I was so wobbly I was weaving in and out of the bike paths as if I'd just taken a couple shots of tequila! Now I'm a natural- it's true what they say about never forgetting how to ride a bike! I love the feeling of wind in my hair and the burn in my muscles after we've gone up a few hills.  Today we rode our bikes to the grocery stores to get some fresh air and exercise while picking up some spinach and dryer sheets. {These photos aren't the best quality because it was after 7 p.m. and my poor Samsung camera can only do so much}.

I started Scarf Sundays as a way to incorporate my scarf collection into my outfits but the lightweight material and silver detailing of this scarf makes it one of my favourites so it has now been showcased twice (previously worn like this).

You can check out my other Scarf Sunday features here, here and here.

I picked up these studded flats for $20 at Winners and they are so versatile they have quickly become my go to for comfort and style (previously worn like this and this.

For my second installment of Scarf Sunday, I decided to wear this lime green and silver scarf I picked up at a sidewalk stall on one of my trips to London, UK.  I paired the scarf with this brightly coloured top I bought at AMH Style, the same consignment store I got my sunny yellow dress.  So as not to blind you with brightness, I toned down the outfit with black cropped pants and grey heels.  This outfit was perfect for my laid back Sunday- brunch, family time, drinks with friends and enjoying the warm weather.  I hope everyone had a great weekend and is feeling rejuvenated and ready for another work week (they eventually all start to meld together don't they!)

Besides owning a lot of nail polish (es?) and dresses, I am also the proud owner of a vast scarf collection.  Mostly thrifted or bought from street vendors in Europe, I thought it would be fun to add a Scarf Sunday feature so that I can get more use out of them.  Great for layering or adding a pop of colour to any outfit, they keep you warm in the winter and looking stylish in the summer months (although best to switch from fleece to silk to avoid severe sweating!)

These pictures were taken along the Ottawa River, near Westboro beach, a 30 minute walk from my place.  As much as I love living in the city, it's good to take a break and spend time with nature, listening to the water, enjoying the view and taking a break from technology.  Unfortunately my lovely walk was cut short due to a swarm of angry bugs headed my way but hey that's nature (and the reason why I'm not a fan of camping!)
