'stylie cute'

Dress (worn as skirt), Belt & Ring- Thrifted; Blouse- Swapped; Boots & Bracelet- Aldo; Hat- H&M; Nail Polish- Pink a Boo by Essie
I have a confession to make- I've been thrifting like a maniac these past few weeks! My favourite thrift store is within 5 minutes walking distance from both work and home so lunch-time visits have become more frequent.  And then last week Salvation Army had a 'Buy any 4 for $15' sale so who do you think spent their Friday evening treasure hunting through the racks? You know it's become an obsession when you thrift a pair of heels that are 2 sizes too big because they are purple, Michael Kors and only $5! (I figure I have three options- 1) stuff the back with kleenex and hobble around with fabulous shoes, 2) display them like a museum exhibit and make my other shoes envious or 3) give them to a friend who would actually fit into them...hmm I don't know if I'm that selfless!)

This wine coloured dress (that I'm wearing as a skirt) was one of my 'Any 4 for $15' Salvation Army finds, making it a cool $3.75, taxes in! I wore this outfit on Saturday to the liquor store to pick up some dark ale to make beer, cheddar & mustard bread (which didn't turn out so well) and as soon as I walked through the doors the wine tasting lady exclaimed "what a great outfit- you look so stylie cute!"  Not sure what stylie cute entails but I'll take the compliment!

  4. SO JEALOUS of your amazing thrifting skills. I wish I had the patience to thrift, but I seem to lack in that department.

P.S. I totally think you should wear the shoes, anyway. No one will know!

  6. em, do you think the lady at the liquor store was drunk? maybe that's why she made up that weird phrase. ;)your wine color twirly skirt is fun. i want that belt! i wish i had a cute hat like that, & a thrift store with walking distance. i'd still probably get in my car & drive. i wouldn't want to lug all the stuff in my hands.

  16. I have to try to stay away from the thrift store, because even though things are so cheap I inevitably end up spending way too much money, and buying things, like those Michael Kors shoes, that don't actually fit me. It's just sad to leave them behind when they're so pretty.

  19. LOL, Stylie Cute, I like that term! I can't wait to get back to thrifting when my shopping ban is up! I love the pleated dress you are wearing, it's a lovely color and pleats are really starting to get popular!

  20. Aw, I love your twirling picture! The skirt is such a lovely shade and the pleats are perfect on you. Great belt and bracelet as well. I wish the thrifting options were better around here, they are just so picked over and overly priced around me. Keep rocking your stylie cute style!

  28. I would have had the same reaction as the lady in store. I LOVE it when bloggers show off a thrifted find that also happens to be really on-trend. You nailed this look, and started giving me my own idea for a dress-as-skirt combo. BTW, I just started following you on pinterest...and I pinned this look on my own board.
