under the sea

Shorts, Blazer, Top, Heels & Clutch- Thrifted; Earrings & Tights- Aldo; Whale Pin- The Shop of Worldly Delights; Nail Polish- Water Mist by Sally Hansen

Do you ever put together an outfit that is worthy of a title? When I threw on these different shades of blue, added touches of grey and an adorable whale pin, I felt like I was in the water so I dubbed this ensemble 'under the sea'.  Sometimes giving clothing a theme makes it that much more fun!

I wore this outfit to work on Thursday followed by dinner and drinks with a girl friend.  We saw "This Means War", which if you haven't already seen, I highly recommend.  It's funny, sweet and let's just say that British actor Tom Hardy is my latest celebrity crush!

I just love the polka dotted silk lining on this BCBG Max Azria blazer that I thrifted for only $5.99.  It's definitely my most worn blazer (worn like this, this, this, this & this, not including all the times it wasn't photographed), there's just something about a proper fitting blazer that is part menswear chic, part feminine sass and a whole lot of professional!

"Under the sea, darling it's better, down where it's wetter, take it from me."
(is it just me or do those song lyrics take on a whole new meaning as an adult?!)

  1. The under the sea theme is very appropos! Grey and blue isn't a colour scheme that you'd think of often but you show how fabulous it can look! I wish you'd said something about the canvas behind you. Did it serve as inspiration or was it just a nicely complementary backdrop?

I wore almost the exact same earrings last night! My version was all silver coloured though, and handmade by a friend of a friend. Aren't they a fun shape?

  3. Cute Outfit. I have a BCBG black cardigan that I got for 15.00 dollars and I wear it a lot. Great find on the blazer.

  10. Emily - I'm with Kat, please tell us something about that painting next time!!! Did you paint it? Did it inspire the color combination?? Either way it's beautiful, as is your outfit! Have you seen the magazine (I think it's Lucky) that shows outfits drawn from paintings?? You did just that (not sure if it was intentional or not!) and now I'm inspired to do the same! These colors are beautiful on you, love the little whale pin!
PS - those lyrics are hilarious as an adult!!! hahaha

  11. L-O-L at the song lyric. I'd never thought of it that way before. Surprising, knowing my gutter-bound mind.

Yes yes yes, tell us about the painting too!

One of my daily joys is reading the lovely comments you leave. It may take a day or two (or three, depending on how hectic life gets!) but I will stop by your slice of the blogosphere soon! xo Emily
