17 going on 23

Tunic- Spoof (Boutique in Toronto); Tights-Smart Set; Boots- Aldo; Hat & Ring- Thrifted; Nail Polish- Cerise by Sally Hansen

I am 16 17 going on 17 23
I know that I'm naive
Fellows I meet may tell me I'm sweet
And willingly I believe

I am
16 17 going on 17 23 innocent as a rose
Bachelor dandies
Drinkers of brandies
What do I know of those

{Bonus cool points if you know what classic movie I adapted these lyrics from!}

You know that magical number- the age you'd like to permanently associate with? For me that number is 17, a time when life was carefree with very few responsibilities.  When sales associate paycheques were spent on clothes, movies & candy instead of rent and bills galore.  A senior in High School with a driver's license, cruising the streets in a poorly manufactured car just for the fun of it.  Sleeping in until noon on the weekends, concerts and parties with friends at night.  But alas I'm not 17 anymore but one can dream, especially when wearing such a youthful and colourful outfit!

It's 'Fall Brights' today for Megan & Keely's Fashion Week remix and y'all know I love me some brights! Check out some of my other bright looks for fall here, here & here.

  2. The Sound Of Music!

Lovely outfit. I'm still 24 years old, no matter what my driver's license says.

  3. What a fun bright outfit! Love the hat and fringe on your shirt. 17 was a little different for me, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. Heather

  5. I met my BF when I was 17 so that time will always be very special to me. One thing I remember from 17 is blasting Stevie Nick's Edge of Seventeen. Those were the times (almost 5 years ago, jeez).

I love that orange/coral top - it doesn't make you look young; rather it makes you look youthful. It's a good thing to have in clothes.

  7. I'd never be 17 again for allll the money in the world. I didn't get the typical teenage years though. I'm happy to grow up.

Love your bright fringed tunic. Sneaking two trends in at once!

  8. Definitely got the illusion! I'd say that 2008 was my year of awesome, so I would have been 24. I was a little slow to the game, I guess! I'm astounded about how much FUN we packed into that year!

  13. Hehe, cute song adaptation, I love the Sound of Music! I would say junior year of college was my favorite year!

I love your bright tunic with that cool fringe trim, and your boots are fantastic too. I like that you wore a beanie too, I haven't figured out how to look cute in them!

  16. Sound of Music! Now that soundtrack will be running through my head all day. 17 kinda sucked for me, so I enjoy each new year as it comes. Being 30 is pretty nice.

I like your bright tunic. Have a great weekend!

  18. I love that song! And the movie is "The Sound of Music" :D We just watched that recently!

    Haha, I still have 4 years to go (okay, 3 1/2 ;) Until I'm 17 :)
Lol, I love the bright colors you wear though :) You could definitely pass for younger, if that makes you feel any better ;)

  23. I'm so excited about this post!
#1.) The Sound of Music of course!! One of my favorites of all time. Also was my son's favorite for a while after we brought him home from Nigeria--I have to share a video of him dancing to "How do you solve a problem like Maria" sometime, because you have never seen someone get down to the Sound of Music like this! LOL
#2.) 17 was also one of my favorite ages...I always seem to like odd number ages better and, yes, what a fun time of life:-)
#3.) Love your outfit as usual--super cute!

  24. Looking great!

17 is my favorite number, and was a good age. Senior years in high school were fairly carefree and fun.

  25. 17 was still SUCH an awkward age for me, I'm pretty happy to have moved on.
How cute is the fringe on this shirt! Love the bright color.

  26. Oh how I love Sound of Music. I sometimes wish I was a teenager again too, with no responsibilities, but I think that's just nostalgia getting to me. Life is way better now at 25. Although, 17 was pretty great. Just way more angsty.

  27. 17 was great, and bills suck. But I don't think you can beat the freedom that comes with being an adult.
