minnie mouse

Pants, Tunic, Bow & Belt- Thrifted; Headband- Primark, UK; Shoes- Payless; Bracelets- The Bay
Fashion should be fun, when you start taking yourself too seriously (you know who you are three piece suit ladies) it's time to take a step back and re-evaluate what pieces of clothing make you feel silly, giddy and footloose. Of course your boss probably doesn't want you showing up to work in a chicken suit but on the weekends I like to have fun and play with characters.  Last Sunday I was feeling sassy like Minnie Mouse so I paired my two current obsessions- bows & red pants and voila, now all I need are some bright yellow shoes...oh wait I already own a pair!

Besides our love of red clothing and big bows, Minnie Mouse and I both like to be called princess (I go by Princess Emilia just in case you were wondering) and we share favourite foods- cheese, chocolate and cake! Who knew I had so much in common with a cartoon mouse!

"Just imagine. He'll stride into the room. Light will glow from him. I'll hear music. He'll bring me flowers.  He'll sweep me off my feet.  And I'll know he's the one when he makes me laugh." (Minnie Mouse)

{Thought I'd throw in this photo for kicks- taken 2 years ago (back in my platinum blonde days) Not sure where the Minnie Mouse ears materialized from but thought I'd go with it!}

Some people gather fashion inspiration from celebrities or street style. Me, I'm inspired by animated mice!

Who (or what) inspires you?

  3. I absolutely want to steal that houndstooth right out of your closet! What a gorgeous and flattering top...and I'm with you on bows. How much better does it get? If I could, I'd wear a bow with every outfit :)

  12. I'm a huge Disney fan, so I love your Minnie Mouse inspired look. I get inspired by characters in my favorite TVs shows. Most of the time it's about looking a little extra polished.

  17. this is a fun outfit, I love all the ways you've been working red into your outfit posts. I really want a pair of red pants now damnit!! It's true fashion & getting dressed is suppose to be fun & creative but I think a lot of people don't know how to dress the way they want or are afriad of looking weird.

    ALSO you looked awesome with the platinum hair, I didn't regcognize you at first!

  18. You look so cute in your bows! I'm inspired by people who you can tell are just rocking their own thing, they may follow some trends but they never lose themselves in them.

    And wow, you used to be BLOND. You look fantastic (but totally different) both ways. :)

  21. Houndstooth, bows, and red pants? Winner winner chicken dinner! (Okay haha, I'm being goofy) This is really really cute. I love when unexpected inspiration hits. Honestly? I may or may not be stalking the fashion of Mr. Cumberbatch a la Sherlock. It may be men's fashion, but I've caught the guy photographed in All Saints, sequined shoes, and some amazing coats that make me so angry at my current 85 degree weather that does not look like it's cooling off any time soon.
