Dress (worn like this) - Chicshop; Blazer- Gap (Thrifted) ; Scarf & Bracelet-Gifted; Boots-Spring; Nail Polish- Today was a Fairytale by Deborah Lippman |
In following with my New Year's resolution, I dedicated today to rest and relaxation. Here's what I spent 'Emily day' doing:
-slept in, didn't set an alarm
-ate waffles for breakfast (a treat I haven't had in years)
-watched four episodes of Arrested Development, which I have only recently discovered!
-started to feel guilty/antsy about my relaxing and checked e-mails and washed the floors
-indulged in Terry's orange chocolate wedges (my favourite sweet)
-watched I Don't Know How She Does It starring SJP and Pierce Brosnan (yum!)
-gave myself a plum coloured manicure
-had a lengthy telephone conversation with my Mum
- & finally made these veggie tacos for dinner
Even on my days of relaxation, my 'type A' personality shines through so I made this list for a sense of accomplishment. Ah well I guess some things never change, even on Emily day!
I'm linking up to Silverstyle's Trending Through the Decades: Layering edition. I layered a scarf over a jacket over a dress over tights- that counts right? |
My outfits this week have been overflowing with colour, a tactic I use to trick my body into thinking it's sunny and warm outside!
I hope everyone has a great weekend- I will be staffing Lilac Lingerie's booth at the Wedding Palace Show- I'm looking forward to chatting with brides-to-be!
P.S. Go on- give yourself permission to dedicate a few hours or a full day to yourself and what you enjoy doing-you know you want to!
When you talk about yourself, everything you say fits me. I think we're sisters, separated at birth.
ReplyDeleteI need an Emily day! I have to watch I Don't Know How She Does It. I love SJP too. I am also seriously jealous of you for having that skirt... love the floral print.
ReplyDeleteArrested Development is hilarious! Wearing a dress as a skirt is a great way to get more mileage out of your clothes. This dress/skirt looks great paired with your olive blazer too. Have fun at the Wedding Palace Show!
ReplyDeleteThe print on that dress is absolutely fantastic. I love it!

That's funny...I wear muted colors to trick myself into thinking it's colder weather since it was about 75 degrees here this week! So proud of you for taking a day to yourself! It's not always easy to let yourself do that, and it sounds like your day was indeed relaxing and restful.

Washed the floors?!? You're so funny. I get antsy on my days off too. It shouldn't feel weird to take a day off, right? But always feel like I should be doing something productive.
ReplyDeleteI've been into florals lately so this dress is a winner. I love how you paired it with a green blazer for an easy-going look.

Love the idea of your "Emily" day. Half way through the day, I would feel guilty too. Here's to type A personalities! Great outfits btw~
ReplyDeleteGood for you taking a day for yourself! :) I love your mixed prints (especially the floral)! Are you a vegetarian? I've recently made the decision to become one and Hannah (Chill Air and Perfume) has given me some fantastic advice. Gonna have to make those tacos! :)

Great outfit! I really love the skirt's print, such fun, bold colours. I like that you kept it up with the other pieces too instead of toning it down. Yay, colour!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful "Emily" day it sounds like you had :) I LOVE this look!!! The colors look amazing on you and everything just looks like it belongs together - that (dress that looks like a skirt) is to die for - I need one just like!!!
