complimentary love

Skirt- Thrifted (remixed like this); Chambray shirt- Liz Claiborne (remixed like this); Wedges- Steve Madden; Ring- Zellers; Belt- Thrifted; Hair clip- Handmade by Pink Beautiful Love

I am rarely a woman of few words.  When my main man and I go out for dinner, I tend to yak yak yak and he often nods and makes encouraging noises.  While this used to irritate me (don't you have anything to say?), I now appreciate it as it gives me an opportunity to vent.  My ex was even more of a chatter box than I am, so much so that our conversations were riddled with interruptions as one of us tried to blurt out a story before the other started their speal.  In this way I love my silent partner because when he speaks it is usually something worth saying whereas I like to share (in excrutiating detail I'm sure) every little fact about my day.

Heck my man and I couldn't get any more different.  He likes to relax, preferring to spend his weekend on the couch watching movies or playing video games whereas I need to be on the go, with lists of things I want to get accomplished.  He knows exactly what he wants out of his life and I sometimes feel like I'm hurtling through it all blindly, not knowing which way to turn.  He likes R&B music, I like country, he loves a juicy steak, I'm a vegetarian.  Not to mention the 13 year age difference (that sure makes generational references difficult!)

I look pretty mean don't I! And tough too because I'm violating that loading zone! (oh dear that didn't sound right...)                  Shorts- GAP (remixed like this); Top-Mexx (remixed like this and this); Wedges- Steve Madden; Belt- Thrifted; Necklace- Dragon Moon; Glasses- Gucci
But you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way because if you had the exact same personality and interests as your partner and friends, what would be left to share?

(Oh and if you hadn't noticed I'm wearing this lace shirt backwards to really remix it up!)

Do you believe in the saying: 'opposites attract?'

  1. I love that bright skirt with the chambray top! And you are stunning in all white with that lace shirt. You're beautiful!

I do believe opposites attract, and I think my husband and I were a little too much alike, which is why we're divorced now but still the best of friends.

  6. My helpmeet and I are incredibly different and we've been together for 10 years - so I think opposites definitely work, and work brilliantly! Also, I am crushing big time on that ring you're wearing - it's fabulous!

  7. I'm a 100% believer of that saying. My bf and I are total opposites but that is probably why we have been together for so long. We balance each other out. :)

On another note, I love the floral lacy top, so gorgeous.

  17. I 100% believe in opposites attract. My boyfriend Drew and I met at my current job. He would NOT stop until I said yes to a date. I always said no because i thought he was too "preppy" for me. I'm more of the rocker girl who liked to party and he's what seemed to be a goody goody preppy boy. 3 years later it's working out just fine. We are opposites in so many ways, but we actually have a lot more in common now. I guess you just grow together.

  18. Loving how you can pull off a shirt, backwards!! You are one fabulous fashionista. And also loving that you are still wearing that feathered clip I gave you.

It was great seeing you the other day.

  20. I think that you and I are total kindred spirits.
My relationship with Mr. A is (almost) the same way. I talk ... a lot ... He talks a lot, too, but we kind of take turns with who is the chatty one. Plus, we have the 10-year age difference. He likes to chill on the couch, and I have to be moving and busy all the time.
    Trust me, I understand.
I believe that opposites attract as long as you are on the same page about certain things. :)

  21. You look amazing. You are always wearing the prettiest clothes. I agree I think opposites attract. Otherwise things would get boring rather quick.

  22. Opposites DEFINITELY attract - that's why they're so much fun! And I love your ring in the top outfit.

  23. Whoa. Wearing the shirt backward? That's ingenious. Holy crap. What a great idea. And this is why I visit other blogs. You girls come up with the best ideas.

    Thanks, cutie!

  24. I do opposites attract, and can really balance each other out. Your man sounds like mine, and yu sound like me lol. I love to go try new things, and get thins done. My boyfriend loves online video games, and being lazy on his days off. I really love the second outfit, its fits you so well.

  25. I think opposites attract at first, but there does have to be some common ground, or you'd never move forward.

and your lace top does look so cute backwards!

  29. I love the shirt worn backwards! I definitely needed you to tell me that because I was just thinking it was really funky. And I definitely believe in opposites attract when it comes to certain things. Husband is 12 years older than me (almost the same as you and your man) and he's a Northerner while I'm a Southerner, and believe me, that is definitely different! But our family values are freakishly exactly the same. It becomes very apparent when there's a kid in the mix!

One of my daily joys is reading the lovely comments you leave. It may take a day or two (or three, depending on how hectic life gets!) but I will stop by your slice of the blogosphere soon! xo Emily
