amateur actor

Pants & Tee- GAP; Heels- Fergalicious by Fergie; Earrings- Aldo; Belt- Thrifted

Last night a friend and I went to see the play "Exs and Oh's" at the Ottawa Fringe Festival which was all about sex and scandal.  It had us both in hysterics and left me reminiscing about my days as an amateur actor.  I use this term very briefly as it mostly meant acting in my church plays (albeit lead roles) and participating in my high school drama club.  I was also on the actor roster at a Nova Scotian talent agency and even scored a few gigs (and well paying at that!) as a young woman talking to her doctor about STI's....Don't worry it wasn't for the local strip club, it was scenario acting for medical students!

These pictures were taken downtown Ottawa, at the same location I posed for these shots.

The only thing I don't like about these cropped pants is how wrinkly they get!

If I had more time, I would volunteer at a dinner theatre to act in murder mysteries.  I just love the adrenaline and the pre-stage jitters, not to mention the dressing up component of acting! There's something about the vulnerability of performing in front of a live audience that makes we want to throw up and do a happy dance at the same time.  Since my schedule is currently jam packed, I will leave the drama for my personality!

Do you like watching plays? How about acting in them?

  1. I love live theater and go to NYC to see dramas several times a year. Unlike you, I could never muster the courage to actually get up on stage myself. I admire your ability to do that. It's funny but this new fact we're learning about you seems perfectly appropriate: you have the beauty and talent to carry this off.

  2. HOT SHOES! That is all I have to say Lol. I would Love to see your entire shoe collection in a post! I am a little shoe obsessed lol...Sorry

  3. I love that first outfit! So cute! I love watching plays, too, although I don't get to watch as often as I'd like. I've only acted in school plays haha but it was fun! :)

  4. goodness, i love polka dots with red! they're so fabulous!!! and how cool are Fergie shoes? she does a great job (or has a great designer!). very cute!

  5. The only acting I've done was in drama class or when I sing - but it's fun!

I love those cropped pants, wrinkles or no wrinkles, and that red skirt with the black and white top is fabulous!

Come take a look inside A Working Mom's Closet

  6. Love plays! They are so entertaining. But I'm not brave like you. I prefer the backstage.

  7. What? No pictures of our trailer trash play in Grade 11 drama class?!

  8. You are so cute and adorable.
I would love to act in a play. Years ago, I would have barfed at the thought, but now that I have matured past the stage of vomiting during public speaking events, I think I could do it.

  9. Really like those glasses!

  10. I love both looks - that red skirt is awesome! And I can't believe you did those medical acting things - too funny.

  11. You look great in your glasses.

    I like to watch plays.

  12. loving the earrings in the first pics
and you are adorable in your glasses
acting??? I create enough drama in real life that i don't need to act in a show. LOL

  13. I agree with you about the performance adrenaline. We call it "show juice" in the circus community. I always feel like I'm on top of the world on performance nights.

The first outfit is great. But I LOVE number 10. I mean, the fit, the look, your hair, the glasses. Homerun!!

Did you ever see the Seinfeld episode when Kramer got that acting job for medical students? So funny. You reminded me of that.

  14. Love the Fergie pumps and outfit #10! You look adorable. I feel the same way about dancing as you do about acting. I loooved the pre-stage jitters. I miss it so much.

  15. I love thise yellow pants! :)
& I love watching plays too, all languages! :)

  16. I agree - those glasses are so cute!

  17. What about auditioning for something like the plays at the Ottawa Little Theatre? I have thought about it, I will say. I was involved with theatre stuff a ton growing up on PEI and also while in university in Moncton, I miss it.

One of my daily joys is reading the lovely comments you leave. It may take a day or two (or three, depending on how hectic life gets!) but I will stop by your slice of the blogosphere soon! xo Emily
