The tagline for my blog is affordable elegance (like an aluminum crown wearing princess), because I don't believe in paying full price for anything. For that reason (as well as promoting sustainability and finding unique pieces) , I love thrift shopping. My favourite second hand shop is Guy's Frenchy's, an Atlantic Canadian franchise I frequent every time I'm visiting family in Nova Scotia. I bought this top and skirt from Guy's this summer and threw them together this morning in a hurry. I love how the patterns and colours managed to both compliment and offset each other. Add a quilted purse (also a Guy's thrifted treasure), neutral wedges & statement jewellery and voila, a cheap and cheerful work ensemble for fall (which feels more like summer) that cost less than $25 from head to toe!
Forget toe cleavage, I present to you the latest foot fetish: baby toe runneth over! |
Do you like thrifting? Why/why not? |
I hope you cat feel better soon. I like to thrift shop. I just went last week and brought a crock board for 2.50
ReplyDeleteYes, i love thrifting! and i adore your outfit emily. great accessories, texture and colors of nails, blouse, and skirt. poor marley indeed. that's a darling photo of you both.
ReplyDeleteI love thrifting and you selected some nice pieces here. Plus your baby toe is trying to steal the picture!
ReplyDeleteOh poor Mr. Marley! I hope he will be better soon! He's such a handsome boy!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE thrifting - I love the thrill of finding trendy items at a good price!! Anything can be washed - believe me, it can. :)
I like your plaid skirt! The whole outfit is great, but I really dig the skirt - I can see lots of other style ideas for it too. Great find!
Love this Emily! Very chic!
ReplyDeleteOh no a bowel disorder :( ?? Well at least you found out what's happening. Poor little guy. He just deserves some extra love ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd that skirt is awesome! Such a fun plaid.
I am in love with that skirt
ReplyDeleteBrett
Poor mr. marley, i hope he gets better soon.
ReplyDeleteI like thrifting but i find a lot of the vintage is picked over here (in ottawa). When i lived in kingston i`d go to the salvation army almost every Thursday and i would find the best stuff! I have lucked out at the big VV on bank soo I guess I can`t complain too uch!
Not only do I love to thrift, but being jobless, it's the only shopping I can afford these days. I mostly look, but still it's a fun way to shop without hurting the budget! You look lovely in your thrifted finds.
ReplyDeleteHope kitty feels better!
Much love,
Lynne
Wow! You have thrifting down to a science! I don't often thrift but it's just because I can't find any stores close enough to me. I think I need to make more of an effort because the results are definitely worth it!
ReplyDeletehaha, of course I do! but lately I've been kind of disappointed in our local thrift stores and I hope I can visit some in other towns and satisfy my thrifting desires. I think it's like a cool game where you have this goal to discover something awesome!
ReplyDeleteby the way, I hope your Mr. Marley is okay. give him a hug from me (if he even digs stuff like that). I hug my Elvis all the time and I think he loves it.. or at least it seems like it, haha.
Maiken,
Maikeni blogi - part of me
I love this skirt on you E! you look amazing in it. I actually enjoy thrifting, but I find that I most of the time i strike out. Maybe you would be willing to take me to a place like Guy's but in O town!
ReplyDeleteha! had me cracking up "baby toe runneth over.." ouch!
ReplyDeletelove the look anyway :) I used to be more of a thrifter, but not anymore.. just too much searching for not enough good finds. typically what I ended up finding I didn't really wear.
