school {girl} / cow {girl}

Skirt, Cardigan, Top, Bracelet & Spiky Ring- Thrifted; Boots- Vintage; Necklace- Joe Fresh; Purse- Aldo; Nail Polish- Turqouise by Joe Fresh

If I was asked to describe my style, I would hem & haw for a while before replying with Alannis Morisette's famous lyrics "I'm a little bit of everything, all rolled into one" (minus the b!%ch reference, I hope!) Just like in High School, when I wasn't categorized as belonging to one particular clique (I instead spent equal time with punks, preps, nerds, metal heads and sometimes even hooligans!), I don't adhere to one particular aesthetic when it comes to fashion. Sure I prefer skirts and dresses to jeans and pants but just like with patterns, I like to mix and match my styles.  This weekend I went for a schoolgirl/cowgirl ensemble with some new thrifted pieces and my beloved vintage cowgirl boots that I broke in during my recent trip to Texas.

How would you describe your style? Are you a little bit of this & a little bit of that or is your style more focused?

  1. I was the same way in high school. I fluttered from one group to the next and liked everyone. As far as my style, I think it varies on my mood.

This green is a gorgeous color on you and I love how you pulled everything together. Your boots are so fun! Heather

  2. I have a hard time describing my style too - it's such a mix of new and trendy with classic and vintage. So I'm like you - a little bit of everything all rolled into one! Or another favorite 90's song of mine - 32 Flavors!

I really love your cowboy boots. I wish I had a fun pair like that - I have tried some and they just don't look right on me. They look great on you! And of course I love your plaid skirt!

Couldn't really describe my style, but have been told it is casual chic.
I don't know if I buy that or not lol

  5. I always mingled with all types of people. Diversity should be my middle name. My style is classic/preppy. That's just me. Love that green on you. It looks so good.

  6. The word for your style is ECLECTIC. A wonderful thing. You borrow the good from different places and create a unique combination.

  7. I don't know what my clique was, but I hung around with the same people all the time. We had been best friends since grade 5 so we were our own little group the whole time :P
I think my style depends on my mood, largely. Sometimes I dress like a total grub (not gunna lie) and other times I feel like taking the extra 5 minutes and putting together a decent outfit.
I love your mix of schoolgirl and cow-girl! So fun!

  9. I like to think I have variety. But then I think about what I tend to wear... and I have lots of variety in my head.
Though I do miss my cowboy boots... Might have to pull those out for tomorrow.

  11. Every time I visit your blog, I get totally googley eyed for all your necklaces! But I totally can relate to you on that one. I don't fit into a particular style category either. What's important about style is just dressing in whatever makes you feel great!

  12. I love your outfit. The boots and necklace are great. I think my style changes depending on my mood. I definitely pull items I like from many different styles but I do tend to be pretty feminine and glamorous most of the time.

  13. Life's more fun when you mix and match! Just like rainbow sprinkles are better than just one color. I'm inspired by your fashion choices. :)

One of my daily joys is reading the lovely comments you leave. It may take a day or two (or three, depending on how hectic life gets!) but I will stop by your slice of the blogosphere soon! xo Emily
