earring inspiration

Skirt, Cardigan, Purse, Shoes & Necklace- Thrifted; Blouse- Smart Set; Belt- Peacock UK; Hosiery- Lilac Lingerie; Earrings- Christmas Craft Show; Ring- Gifted; Nail Polish- As Gold as it Gets by Essie & Fig by Joe Fresh

Today was -25'C today in Ottawa (that's -13'F for my American friends).  Remember when I declared my dislike for the cold? To me there's nothing worse than looking like an abdominal abominable snowman (unless you're the bumble from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer). So instead of sharing photos of my winter get-up (believe me it's not pretty!), here's an outfit I wore back in November (when you could still see my deck).  This skirt may look summery but it's one of my favourite winter white pieces, with its thick, warm material and ability to match just about everything.

This outfit was brought to you by these fabric covered button earrings I bought at a Christmas craft fair for only $8.  I've never paired purple, burgundy and gold before but the earrings convinced me that it was a smart move.

Do you ever style your ensemble around your accessories?

  3. Emily hi! Yes, all the time. My Mom tried to tell me it should be the other way around but that is more cool these days to have the inspiration come from the accessories. I usually do it around my shoes. LOL

Yes, my grandson is a chubby cheeked kid alright. I love him so much.

  5. Oh my gosh, that cold weather is insane! When I lived in Chicago, my winter outfits were terrible--layers and layers of sweaters and wearing gloves inside at the office. Have some vegan hot chocolate and sit by a fire or something!

I have organized an outfit around accessories, usually a scarf or a necklace.

  10. Yes, I've definitely styled outfits around earrings or necklaces before. I love the colors you are rocking Emily! This is so pretty, purple and white are so lovely together! And yes, it is cold down here in MN too, we are sitting around -10 F. Not so much fun! Your picture makes me long for warmer weather!

  18. I LOVE seeing when people discover new colour combination based on an inspiration piece like these earrings. It's not something I would have though to put together, but it looks great!! And the winter white skirt really pops against it all.
