tiaraiconpussy bow

Blouse (worn like this)- Consigned; Skirt, Ring & Purse- Thrifted; Boots- Gifted; Belt- Spoof (Boutique in Toronto); Nail Polish- Deliciously Dark by Rimmel
Heather & Kayla recently styled a necktie blouse for their popular mother & daughter remix and their post inspired me to bust out my consigned leopard print pussy bow blouse.  I'm a sucker for blouses so add a feminine bow and I'm hooked!

The colour of this pleated skirt is actually a bright fuchsia (not fire engine red as it appears in the photos), I can't wait to wear it with bare legs and strappy heels in the spring!

Pussybow Blouse- Consigned; Top, Pants, Black Ring & Earrings- Thrifted; Gold Heart Ring- H&M; Shoes- Dress for Success Ottawa Sale; Nail Polish- Deliciously Dark by Rimmel

I pulled up the pant legs so that you could see the shoes, don't worry these pants are not the most awkward length in the world (in  fact they are very wide legged and high waisted, a perfect combo for short gams like mine!)

Are you a (pussy bow) blouse babe?

tiaraiconbaby shower

Cropped Pants- Anthropologie; Top & Bracelet- Joe Fresh; Vest- Thrifted; Heels & Belt- Target; Purse- Gifted; Earrings- Vintage; Nail Polish- Deliciously Dark by Rimmel London

Some of my friends are starting to get married and have babies and as excited as I am for them, I'm still enjoying my stage of life as a cat mother where the only thing I'm saying 'till death do us part' to are these hot pink shoes!

I wore this outfit over the weekend to a friend's baby shower.  I can't wait to someday (sooner rather than later!) get married and have kids and hope that I can still sport sock buns & high heels for playtime and mommy duties. Because who says you can't be a great Mom and still keep up with your sense of style!

I love these printed cropped pants I bought at Anthropologie in Austin for only $19.99 (on sale from $138) and can't wait to wear them with every colour combination possible!

Are you or do you plan to be a mod Mom?

tiaraiconsnow leopard

Skirt, Top, Sweater, Scarf, Belt, Ring & Shoes- Thrifted; Earrings- Aldo;  Bracelets-  Sears; Nail Polish- Sew Psyched by Essie

I'm sure you're all sick and tired of my leopard print addiction by now but my latest addiction is seasonally appropriate...snow leopard! Ok it's technically still a leopard print but the hues are different so technically it counts as a separate obsession (or so I tell myself!) I thrifted this skirt a few weeks ago at Value Village for a mere $2 (thanks to 50% off member savings day!) and wore it a couple of times over the holidays.  Both sets of photos were taken after a light snow fall, we have much, much more snow now if you can believe it!

Speaking of snow leopard, check out this adorable snow leopard hair bow I won  in Sartorial Sideline's Sproos shop giveaway!

I bought this clutch as a Christmas gift to myself (c'mon admit it, we all do that to ensure we get what we really want!) from one of my favourite local designers, Demu.

tiaraiconearring inspiration

Skirt, Cardigan, Purse, Shoes & Necklace- Thrifted; Blouse- Smart Set; Belt- Peacock UK; Hosiery- Lilac Lingerie; Earrings- Christmas Craft Show; Ring- Gifted; Nail Polish- As Gold as it Gets by Essie & Fig by Joe Fresh

Today was -25'C today in Ottawa (that's -13'F for my American friends).  Remember when I declared my dislike for the cold? To me there's nothing worse than looking like an abdominal abominable snowman (unless you're the bumble from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer). So instead of sharing photos of my winter get-up (believe me it's not pretty!), here's an outfit I wore back in November (when you could still see my deck).  This skirt may look summery but it's one of my favourite winter white pieces, with its thick, warm material and ability to match just about everything.

This outfit was brought to you by these fabric covered button earrings I bought at a Christmas craft fair for only $8.  I've never paired purple, burgundy and gold before but the earrings convinced me that it was a smart move.

tiaraiconhonky-tonk

Howdy partners! If you're wondering where I've been lately, I've been yeehawing in the Lone Star State.  My man had to work in Austin (one of my new favourite American cities) & Houston and since I'm a country girl at heart and have always been curious about the place where everything is bigger, I tagged along.  The weather may not have co-operated (with flash flood warnings for half the trip) but that didn't stop me from boot scootin' boogying all across town.  I explored museums and art galleries; went vintage shopping; ate delicious food (while managing to avoid Texas BBQ) and listened to a lot of country western.

Here are some highlights from my trip:
Texas State Museum where they had a wonderful exhibit on the Women Shaping Texas in the 20th Century

My take on a chic cowgirl.
Food truck garbage cans.
I was ecstatic to see that my favourite Ottawa thrift store was also in Austin (and a much better version of it!)
Cupcakes served from a food truck= delicious convenience.

We had a great Japanese dinner (complete with sake shots served in carved out cucumbers) at the Lucky Robot, followed by live music at the famous Continental Club
Adorable graffiti.
I spent hours perusing Uncommon Objects curiosity shop, fascinating!
Mexican trading store in the Soco district, Austin.
Authentic honky-tonk bar in Houston.
Buck, the only real cowboy (he was a rancher) I met all trip!
Vintage sequins.
Blanco's Bar regular, Dave, leading me to the dance floor to show me how to dance the Texas two Step!
When in Texas...
The Galleria district in Houston
I'll need to return for a live music festival!
Dining table at the Texas State Museum (I found the Texas water to taste a bit fishy, and after taking a shower you smelled like smelt!)
Drinking Lonestar beer and listening to the Texas Tyrant at The Continental Club.
Sale-ing at Anthropologie (I bought the pink top, printed silk pants & a floral blouse for under $40, a savings of over $250!)
A poolside visitor.

Passing on my newfound knowledge and teaching my man the 2 step!
Machine gun (apparently they are safer than handguns for newbies but that didn't calm my nerves!) target shooting.

Have you ever visited Texas?

tiaraiconsneak peek... clothes room

When my man and I were house-hunting we had certain criteria of what we wanted such as 3+ bedrooms, 2+ bathrooms, a garage (which we unfortunately didn't get, I curse you snow shoveling!), sufficient outdoor space and staying in West Wellington Village.  Being a hoarder collector of clothes, shoes, accessories, and anything to do with my wardrobe, one of my biggest priorities was a large closet.  The house we ended up buying has a wall to wall closet in our master bedroom but I always dreamed of walking into a closet that felt like a clothing boutique.  And that's how my clothes room was born.  My man spent countless hours installing closet track systems in the small attic bedroom and slowly but surely the space has started to evolve.  It isn't quite complete, I want it to be perfect before I show it off to the blogosphere but here is a sneak peek of some of the highlights.

{Jewellery display case}

{Part of my belt collection}

{Gold, silver, black & white costume necklaces}
{Colourful necklace wall}

{Floppy hats, all brand new thanks to a recent bargain shopping spree at Simon's in Montreal}

{Sun hats}

{Rings galore}

{Arm candy}

{Lingerie}

{Sweaters & long sleeve blouses}

{Winter blazers in front, summer tops in back}
