home depot chic pt2

Dress, Vest, Bracelets & Shoes- Thrifted; Belt- Smart Set
Here's photographic proof that I dress up for everyday chores, even when going to buy a new toilet (there's something disconcerting about using the same facilities that the previous owners had been using for 3 decades!) Need more evidence? I wore an animal print skirt and pink heels to the popular home improvement retailer in my original Home Depot chic post!

In High School I loved watching "What Not to Wear" and one of my biggest takeaways from Stacy London was that going grocery shopping is not an excuse to wear your ripped sweatpants and stained tee. You should still make an effort because you're out in public and you never know who you're going to run into. Plus when it comes to dressing comfortably, I find dresses more cozy than jeans (which are too restricting in my opinion!
I tend to gravitate towards brightly coloured ensembles so my fashion challenge this week is to incorporate my black & white clothing & accessories into Tinfoil Tiaras esque outfits!

Today I'm linking up with two birds' Inspiration Monday with my black and white interpretation.

Do you run errands in dungarees or dresses? Casual or chic?

  4. well, it all depends on the weather, my mood, what's the next location, where I'm coming from at the moment etc. so, sometimes I'm all about casual (even messy) and sometimes all about chic.
btw, you've been super successful with your all black & white look!

  5. I totally agree that just because we are running everyday errands, we can't dress up and put a little bit of effort into it. I have walked around Home Depot in dresses, skirts and heels.

I love your striped dress and vest. The bracelets are pretty great too :) Heather

  6. There was a time (university days) where I would roll out of bed, put on sweats and head to class and that was on a day where i may have pulled an all nighter or three. but From as far back as I can remember I have always dressed up to do errands. My grandma always said you never know if you'll run into the queen! Yes I know we don't technically live with a monarch but the sentiment remains!

  7. I also agree, I always dress up when I'm leaving the house, to the point that my husband makes fun of me. Sweatpants are an at-home only piece of clothing. Glad I'm not alone in that sentiment.

Love your take on Elizabeth's outfit, the stripes of the dress and vest are super cute! Love your double arm party as well :D

  8. I love that you took pictures in Home Depot!! And this is a lovely outfit, I like the striped dress a lot! I do run errands in dresses sometimes if I'm stopping on my way home from work! In fact, last night I grocery shopped in the outfit I wore for Inspiration Monday!

  9. I love your attitude. We should always make the effort to look nice. It makes us feel better and you never know who you'll run into or what'll happen out in public. I've unexpectedly run across an old classmate or been interviewed by a news-crew on the sidewalk. You want to look nice for that!

  10. "Home Depot Chic", I love it! Awesome photos too, by the way. I'm more of a jeans girl typically, but I still get "ready" too, even if I'm just running an errand or two (unless we're in the middle of a DIY project and have to make a hardware store run midway through--then it's grubby work clothes for me!).

  11. dear emily, i'm totally into the black & white, looking dynamite, wherever you are look. usually i style it up when errand running, but it depends on my mood. what not to wear used to be my fave show. yes, i still watch it.

  12. i love wearing dresses, too. i also find jeans to restricting. so i am usually in some form of dress when i run errands...at least in the summer. but i have also been known to wear sweats and t-shirts to the grocery store. it's usually then that i run into all my ex-boyfriends.

  13. i'm usually pretty casual on the weekends - i def don't 'dress up' JUST to go to home depot or whole foods - i just wear whatever floats my boat that day at that time ..

  17. It is way more fun to dress cute for errands. It makes me feel like I am going somewhere more important than the grocery store.

  18. LOVE this!! I think you're the fanciest Home Depot shopper I've ever seen. Personally I love casual outfits when I'm out on the town, but I think you look awesome and this outfit makes much more of a statement. Great shoes!

One of my daily joys is reading the lovely comments you leave. It may take a day or two (or three, depending on how hectic life gets!) but I will stop by your slice of the blogosphere soon! xo Emily
