casual bling

Jeans- Bluenotes; Vest, Blouse, Belt & Boots- Thrifted; Purse- Aldo; Bracelets- Joe Fresh; Le Chateau & Gifted (from my Mum); Watch- Fossil; Nail Polish- Midnight Sky by Sally Hansen
I don't do casual well.  I'm not a t-shirt and jeans kind of gal, I don't own any hooded sweatshirts and I only wear sneakers at the gym. However, there are those days when you don't want to dress up but you still want to look pulled together.  That's what I call casual bling.  The outfit stays simple so the accessories can do all the talking. I wore this on Friday and my outfit was assembled with a little help from two birds and their Inspiration Monday challenge.

Do you like wearing casual clothes or would you prefer to get all dolled up?

  1. I think this is a perfect mix of casual and dolled up - the layered bracelets are awesome!

  2. your accessories are superb! my outfits are schizophrenic. now about dallas & austin. it just depends on what you are looking for. we moved to DFW (dallas/fort worth) texas, because of my guy's job. we'd never lived in the south before. dallas is more uptown city vibe. austin is more hippie. people often think austin is more my style, & in many ways i agree. they both have lots of art, music, & fun stuff to do. before you decide which one to visit, do some research online, to see which place appeals to you more. if you have any questions, you can always ask me. i'm not an expert or anything, but i live here, & i've been to austin several times.

  5. Love that bag!!!

I can easily do a sweatshirt and jeans any day of the week - but I'm trying to not do that as much anymore especially since I've been blogging! I have reduced my hoodie collection by half I think!

  6. My idea of casual seems to vary from other people. My casual = flowy and colourful, while most people associate casual with sweatpants hah. It's still nothing I could wear to work but it's not slobby either. I do like it to look like I do put some thought or take pride in how I dress. This is probably going to sound weird, but your outfit reminds me of... the outfit worn by the woman dating the father in the original Parent Trap (I'm a Hayley Mills fan, what can I say) when they go camping. Random, but you look great :)

  9. my outfits depend on the weather, the occasion, my mood... many things :P I can wear almost anything if I want to. I don't like limits. and I definitely like your cool & casual ensemble, especially the fabulous combination of that vest and belt.

  10. I am a total mixture of looks! In the words of my headteacher- "I never know what to expect from you. One day you'll be 1950's lady and the next day, country casuals! I like a bit of both, just depends how tired I am or general feeling!! I love your waistcoat- lovely!

  12. Oh I'm a casual girl through and through. But I like it to look unusual and somewhat fashion-y. Casual glam? :) I like your outfit better than the inspirations! I scrolled down to see where you got those amazing boots - DANG.

  13. I love dressing for BOTH. Sometimes it's nice to look cute without being 'fancy' and I think you did a great job. You could go nearly anywhere in this outfit and not feel under dressed or over dressed.

  19. I am with you, I prefer to be more dressed up and if I am casual, then it is usually pulled together. I am mortified to wear a sweatshirt in public - that's how freaky I am about it.

I really love your vest. The fit is great and the belt is divine. Your bag amps up the whole level. Beautiful!

  20. My casual wardobe is depressing. It's all yoga pants and T shirts. I need to build a "real" casual wardrobe that doesn't make me look like I'm ready to mow the lawn or clean out a garage. I guess I prefer a formal work wardobe since that's mostly what I have. I instantly feel put together in a structured blazer.

You boots are super cute. :)

  22. I suck at casual! I really wish I were better at is but I'm no so who cares! I wear what I want when I want and feel happier for that decision.
My man is to casual. I'm constantly telling him he needs to up his game and he just smiles and shakes his head then I go off and buy him stuff!
It was wonderful to see you with Kat. You two are favorites of mine and I'm sure you had a great time.

  24. I think that a lot of clothes lovers excell at work wear, but falter at casual. At my (rather advanced) age, with the help of second-hand/vintage shops, I finally have my teacher weekday wardrobe down pat and now have developed a comfortable but smart weekend look. Like Em, I'm not happy in jeans and t-shirt, and I also enjoy a lot of bracelets! Being petty, but I think the beige "pearls" with ribbon were from me, purchased at Matalan's for 2 pounds.

  26. Love that vest. The fit is really great.

I prefer to dress up if I'm going out. I tend to stay in pajama pants around the house though.

One of my daily joys is reading the lovely comments you leave. It may take a day or two (or three, depending on how hectic life gets!) but I will stop by your slice of the blogosphere soon! xo Emily
