camera, clumsy & collect

Skirt- Gap; Blazer, Blouse, Ring & Boots- Thrifted; Cat- Mr. Marley :)
Have I mentioned before my fondness for making lists? It's just part of the type A personality package! This blog post is brought to you by the letter 'c' because if you don't know by now I have a fondness for alliterations (hence Tinfoil Tiaras and Elegance of Emily).

1.) Camera.  Have you noticed that my blog photos are of higher quality than usual (no? well you will soon!) My Christmas gift from my man finally arrived- the Canon Rebel t21 and it is glorious! I know nothing about cameras but even just to shoot and click takes a decent photo (check out the unintentional but desired background blur effect in the nail polish photo below- magical!) I am planning on spending some time this weekend getting to know my camera and hopefully take some outdoor photos so you can really see what the camera is capable of!
{Nail polish=Cabernet by Gap- who knew Gap made nail polish?!}

2.) Clumsy.  Last night when I was lovingly painting my nails (in order to link up the Nail Files) I spilled the plum colour all over my man's white, $3000 couch! When I've made a mistake I tend to get defensive so my response was "who spends $3000 on a couch?" "so much for stain resistant!" "who buys a white couch anyways?" and "well I never liked this couch to begin with!" Now I understand why my Mum thanks my man for being so patient with me...I can be a lot to handle sometimes! You would think I would have learned my lesson after spilling a bottle of bright pink nail polish last week all over my desk chair and favourite (not to mention most expensive) LBD! From now on I vow to only paint my nails in the bathroom (and maybe the bed, no promises!)

3.) Collect.  Speaking of nail polish- it's still my favourite thing to collect even after all the spillage.  I currently own 105 bottles which are proudly displayed by colour on these plastic racks that my lovely friend drove up from New Jersey.  You will never catch me without my finger nails and toe nails painted- to me that is the equivalent of forgetting to wear pants (you know who you are tights as pants ladies- oh wait I've been that girl -tsk tsk!)

  2. 1) Cant wait to see more pics with the camera! It is amazing how even on the auto-mode it is soooo much better than a basic point and shoot.

    2) EEEEK about the nail polish spill! That really sucks I hope there's something you can do about it :(

    3) Holy crap. My nail polish collection is maybe 15 bottles? 105?! Jealous. Very jealous.

  4. Okay, so my comment about the cat was supposed to be for this outfit post haha. Sorry. Love love that skirt! I think I'm right there with you on the nail polish collection. I pile mine up in a glass vase. It's always frustrating when I want the color on the bottom!

  7. whoa-- $3000 white couch? that's like an accident magnet. I am sure. But oooh I didn't know GAP made polishes and in such a pretty color too! Emily, I think you and I have a lot more in common that I thought we did. I absolutely LOVE making lists. I have been criticized for list-writing way too much, like my poetry is mostly lists.

  13. First off, gorgeous outfit and gorgeous Emily. Secondly, mwahahaha on your response after spilling the nail polish. Oh man, I almost spit out my coffee.

I wish LA was closer! Then we could hang out in June. Oh well. Come to the bay area on your way home?

  17. Damn, girl! That's a lot of nail polishes! My collection's not nearly as organized, and I'm much too lazy to paint my nails every day. Thank goodness I can live vicariously through you. :)

And really, who buys a white couch??? You're just asking for trouble.

    Have a great weekend!

  20. I love the color of the polish, but I'm sorry about the sofa. But you know what, thats the EXACT reason I don't have a white sofa. I KNOW the second I give in and get that white anything I'll get coffee ALL OVER IT :)

  22. So very jealous of your nail polish collection! Also, I empathize with you - I spilled nail polish remover on my BFF's leather couch and it left this weird white mark which is still there...

Whatever. These things happen. It's the price we pay for having great nails, right?

  24. Oops for the couch, but that Cabernet shade of polish is beautiful. I really like the deep color of it. I thought I had a lot of polish, but you have more than me; love all of your great shades of polish :)

  25. AARGGGHHHHHHH...the poor couch...I feel a rant coming on so will just allow myself to say, do the nailpolish work in the bathroom over an old towel. Sympathies to couch and owner of coach (who is a saint).

  26. I'm all for the alliteration too, as you know :) Congrats on the new camera, that is awesome!! I hope to acquire a nice camera too here one of these days. And WOW your polish collection is amazing!

  27. Emily, I think you need to cough up for a new leather sofa! Your man must be besides himself with grief. I assume tht he has fitted those airport style security gates on the living room entrance, where you have to leave all liquids outside, with the exception of his beer of course.

  29. OMG, too funny! (I'm sure it wasn't at the time). Your guy sounds like a saint. I absolutely love those display cases. I think it another universe I should own an organization store. I love anything to do with storage.
