an apple a day

Skirt, Cardigan, Beaded Necklace & Purse- Thrifted; Top- Spoof; Heels- Walmart; Hat- H&M; Amber Apple Necklace- Gifted; Watch- Fossil; Nail Polish- Sew Psyched by Essie
My Grandma was a teacher, my Mum's a teacher and my sister's in University training to be a teacher.  Since I don't plan on joining the profession anytime soon, I thought it would be fun to join my female family members by at least dressing as a teacher.  Because if I was a school-teacher, this is the kind of outfit I would wear (hat and all- I would eliminate the hat ban and encourage self-expression)! I feel a bit like Emma Pillsbury in this outfit which I love because she may be an OCD prude but she sure knows how to wear a cardigan!

{Forget fruit apples, any kid who left an amber apple on my desk would get straight A's!}

{No I'm not pregnant, I'm just carrying a leftover food baby from Thanksgiving :D}

{Psst I was recently interviewed by Jason of threadbeat- read my ramblings here.}

  1. I love that skirt! Such a cute fall piece...

    And the themed room idea from the Gaultier exhibit sounds really cool - wish I could visit.

  3. if you are a teacher in this pretty outfit, you will definitely score with the students, and there won't be so many school drop outs. You look vintage chic, I like the necklaces, very gorgeous. You're really a fabulous thrifter. Love the yellow hat. And my mom was a teacher too so were my grandparents and aunts. But not me, I don't want to terrify the students..ha..

  10. My sister once said to me, as we were heading out to a classy event: "You dress like such a teacher". I had just started my Ed degree, and hadn't learned that I certainly was not going to be a teacher (you should only teach if you love to teach!!!), so I took it as a compliment. I'm thinking now, she didn't mean it that way!
    I do enjoy your teacher look! (And the food baby. I have one too!)

  14. Cute beret! I love Emma's outfits too because they're so colorful but really well put together. It's school teacher style without being stuffy. (I can't believe we have to wait until November for more Glee!) If I had unlimited money, I'd dress like one of the models in the Boden catalogs.

  15. I don't think you need to be a teacher to wear this. It's very sexy and professional at the same time. I love it. You remind me of Emily too!!

    Is there really a ban on hats?

  16. A very nice teacher! I used to be a teacher for many years before moving to Germany. Now that I'm not there anymore, I don't know whether I'll go back to teaching, let's see. My two brothers are respectively a teacher and a professor.
    I loved your shoooooes!!!!! Really amazing!
    By the way, your DIY is fabulous!!! Congratulations for that!

One of my daily joys is reading the lovely comments you leave. It may take a day or two (or three, depending on how hectic life gets!) but I will stop by your slice of the blogosphere soon! xo Emily
