The boy could sense that I needed a break from routine so he planned a mini staycation for us. He took me out to a vegetarian restuarant on Friday night and Saturday we hopped in the car and drove to Wakefield, a beautiful waterfront town of Quebec, only 30 minutes from Ottawa. We enjoyed lunch on the patio of Cafe Pot au Feu and spent the afternoon strolling along the water (and I even managed to locate the only vintage clothing shop in town- score!)
It was just what I needed- a few hours away from my unchecked e-mails and the hustle and bustle of the city. Relaxed, carefree and romantic, just the way I like it!
The best part about a staycation? Not needing a fresh pedicure! Well ok, maybe that's just my lame excuse for having chipped nail polish... |
Maxi Dress- Old Navy; Vest- H&M; Sandals- Payless Shoes; Necklace & Sunglasses- Aldo |
Totally lovely! Great shoes and dress.
ReplyDeleteWe once went to this place where they only spoke Spanish in a neighborhood not far from where we lived. Oddly, white people never went there. The cook came out to watch us eat. He looked a lot like the guy who starred in Machete. Really, we didn't know exactly what we were eating, but it was great. So you never know what you'll find even if its a few blocks away from home.
I looove the blue dress! you are so beautiful Emily! It's always great seeing you! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, we all need these. Love the cute sandals!
ReplyDeleteI actually don't mind staycation.. it takes you away from home without the hassle of losing luggages, long flights and airport security - ugh!
ReplyDeleteI love the Chelsea/Wakefield area. E and I stay at the Mill all the time! love these photos babe!

Wakefield is a nice little town, the Mill is also a great place for a mini-retreat - in the winter, the outdoor hot tub during snow storm = magical ;)
