{30x30 pt17} Parisienne Athlete

I wanted to thank everyone for their supportive, sweet and constructive comments yesterday, y'll made my day!  Yesterday morning when I was getting dressed, the boy told me I looked like I should be working in a baguette shop in Paris.  Hmmm...wasn't sure how to take that comment but the more I look at my outfit photos I can see a girl scout, a flight attendant or just me trying to mix funky accessories.  I'm not sure if this outfit works but you never know until you try!

Last night, my best friend and I finally took the plunge and registered for a 10K at Ottawa Race Weekend.  I was telling Twenty York Street and Pink Beautiful Love about my plan over martinis and they agreed that I could call this a 'mini marathon' :) Running a marathon is on my bucket list and I figure since a marathon is 40K, I'm a quarter of the way there! I'm not an athlete by any stretch of the word, I ran 2 miles on the treadmill yesterday and even my eye lids were sweating! We have 100 days to train so if I'm looking slightly wild eyed and straggly (like in the third photo below) y'all know why!

{If you're wondering why I'm posting at 6:30 a.m.- I'm sitting in the Ottawa airport waiting for my flight home to NS to visit family and indulge in some down time}

Blouse, Sweater & Tights- Smart Set; Beret- Alfred Sung for Zellers; Boots- Thrifted; Scarf- Vintage

Have you ever run a marathon or mini marathon?

  1. haha... I can see a little of the french thing going on. Good luck with that marathon. I would die if I had to run that far. It was bad enough pounding the pavements in NYC this past week.

  2. My first reaction to your post was "what is she doing up so freaking early?!" LOL have a wonderful time in NS! You'll have a blast with your little sister. It was great seeing you the other day, we'll have to do it again sometime soon.

    You look cute. The girl-guide thing is adorable.

  3. I am also doing the 10k on Ottawa race weekend! I signed up because I wanted to get back into running as a new years resolution. Once I master the 10k, I am thinking of trying for the half-marathon in October on PEI, but we shall see!

  8. I am SO jealous that you got to have a martini with Marilou! I adore her!

    You look fabulous, I love these colors together.

    I could never, ever run a marathon. I wish I could, but running just isn't my thing. I'd rather do some kind of aerobics or weight-training.

  10. Good luck on the 10K! That's awesome! I ran a marathon last year and when I decided to do it I was not at all althetic or into running in the slitest bit. Everyone said "why don't you do a half marathon or something first" but I just thought "eh, I'm just going to go for it!" It was a big challenge, but so worth it! ... You'll do awesome. Race events are so much fun!

One of my daily joys is reading the lovely comments you leave. It may take a day or two (or three, depending on how hectic life gets!) but I will stop by your slice of the blogosphere soon! xo Emily
