For the 5th installment of my accessory addict series (having previously highlighted
shoes,
jewellery,
hats &
scarves), I focus my attention towards belts. Often overlooked or seen as a practical means of keeping your bottoms from reaching the floor (which I am in strongly in favour of!
), belts can be just as decorative and ornamental as jewellery. Belts are now longer worn just at the hips and are moving their way up north as a colourful way to define the waist. In fact, I rarely use belts for their intended purpose and instead curate them as an accessory that stands alone (as my 76 belts strong collection can attest to!
)

not as bananas as you, Emily. hehe, I'm even very far from that but yeah, I do own quite a few belts myself and have been in the middle of sorting my collection for forever. when it happens one day then I will give my very best to show my collection in the blog. because I have to admit it, I really enjoyed seeing your collection and noticing how many of your beautiful belts are thrifted. great job!
ReplyDeleteMaiken,
Maikeni blogi - part of me
you have a great belt collection
ReplyDeleteBelts are often overlooked: they can add punch to any outfit, both by adding interesting design and/or cinching our waist. You do belts well and I've learned from watching your posts.
ReplyDeleteYou have a great collection. There's something called an "Obi-belt" which my friend Megan makes from old neckties. They're cute. (http://www.meganmaedaily.com/)
I don't wear belts that much these days except to keep my pants up. But perhaps its because my collection is not NEARLY as awesome as yours!!
ReplyDeleteI have not been all that much for belts actually, I have a few but I don't tend to use them as accessory, I tend to use them for the purpose of holding up my pants! I like the obi-belts that Ally is talking about though, I have a few from Megan's collection.
ReplyDeleteI am loving that orange belt
ReplyDeleteI have some belts, but not tons
Would have loved to have a purple belt in my closet this morning as I got dressed

ReplyDeleteI think a nice belt can truly change the whole outfit, I love belts and have so many, sometimes it takes a long time to find a belt I want because I forget where it is, LOL =) Kisses

I was going to say I loved the red and the yellow belt, but then I liked many more! You have all so organized and the pictures and outfits are lovely! Sorry I didn't comment earlier, I am solving some family problems and it takes time... soon all will be fine - I hope! Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI am only bananas about your belts, I think! What a great collection! I especially love the scarf, and the thrifed, stripe suede. I AM bananas over thrifting. So happy to have found your BLOG!
