from pancakes to public speaking

Pants- Gap; Jacket- Clothing Swap; Top, Belt, Purse, White Bracelets & Heels- Thrifted; Necklace- Gifted; Colourful Bangle- Mingei Museum (San Diego); Nail Polish- Posh by Revlon
I crave colour so when I saw these pants on the sale rack at Gap (reduced from $80 to $10) I couldn't resist. As I am not leggy, I had to have the pants hemmed so tack on an alteration fee and I now have a great pair of brand new green pants for $20!

I kept the styling simple with black and white and let the pants do all the talking screaming. I wore this outfit to volunteer at a rural pancake breakfast to promote awareness of the work that Ottawa Victim Services (OVS) does.  I've been involved with OVS for six years, as a summer student, staff and now volunteer Team Leader.  As part of National Volunteer Week, I was asked to share my volunteer experience with OVS and so I decided to represent the organization by wearing their colours. This ended up being a very versatile outfit that served a dual purpose for flipping pancakes (which I'd never done before, it's harder than it looks) , followed by public speaking.

  1. These are great colored pants! I like the fit of them on you too, they are crisp and classic looking. Sounds like you got them for a fantastic deal too, which makes it even better!!

  2. Those green pants are wonderful! My Gap is always rather picked-over in terms of my sizes, which means it's hard to find a bargain that fits ... lucky you! I think they will be really versatile. The jacket's white piping, the texture of the bag, and the bangle all add visual interest to the outfit without competing with the pants. :)

One of my daily joys is reading the lovely comments you leave. It may take a day or two (or three, depending on how hectic life gets!) but I will stop by your slice of the blogosphere soon! xo Emily
