Skirt- Target; Blouse & Sweater- Thrifted; Brooch- Vintage; Shoes- Spring; Nail Polish- Lapiz of Luxury by Essie The first time we toured what is now our new home, there were two things we both disliked immediately- the white wire fence and the mahogany hand-carved fireplace mantel. We thought about selling the mantel or painting it white but in the 3 months we have lived here the mantel is growing on me. It is unique and complements my eclectic sense of decor. The fireplace is wood burning and is so cosy to sit in front of with a good book and a glass of wine, I can't wait to spend our winter weekends cuddled up with a roaring fire as our backdrop. |
If it's cold enough this weekend (which in Ottawa is almost guaranteed), my fireplace and I are going to have a hot date (pun intended!)
Do you have a fireplace in your home?
I wished I had a Fire place. Love your botch.
ReplyDeleteOMG, Emily, I LOVE your fireplace. So lovely, and such a great backdrop for pics :) We do have a fireplace with gas logs and love it!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors in your outfit, and the beautiful pumps.
Really cute outfit. And during the past twelve days of no electricity or heat, I deeply craved a fireplace for warmth. Plus, they're attractive. Enjoy yours.
ReplyDeleteWhen you find me knocking at your door with a bottle of wine this winter, you'll know my answer to your question!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about your particular fireplace design being a bit old-school but mahogany and hand-carved sound like something that shouldn't be messed with. I like how the tiling gives it a more contemporary edge.
I sort of love that mantel! It's very stately.

Yes I do! But it is fake. It won't take wood or gas. It is a glorified electric space heater. but it has a mantel and I love to decorate it and have it be the focal point of our living room. We had a gas leak a few months ago and the gas company man came over and determined it was actually the lawn mower giving off fumes. But he wanted to double check the fireplace and I had to politely let him know it was fake. I love it but it is fake. That is really ok. Your fireplace is fab but it would have to grow on me, too. hahahaha.
ReplyDeleteyeah, my fiance built it all by himself and when our dining and living room is fully ready then I will share some photos in my blog. I love fireplaces! yours is beautiful too, especially those carvings. oh and your outfit is a super cute one.. it actually made me miss wearing skirts but it's so cold here in Estonia.

I like your fireplace! and it's great that your fireplace has a door so not all the heat from the house is sucked out and up the chimney. Currenly, our wood stove is our only source of heat, but thanks to all the new insulation (we are renovating a house built in 1760 here in rural Nova Scotia) the bedrooms are still cozy at night. Looking forward to cozying up to you fireplace this Christmas! love, Mater. xo
ReplyDeleteYour outfit is so pretty. I love your skirt and that pin is adorable. I have two fireplaces in my home. Unfortunately I only use them when it is extra cold outside, we have no electricity, or on the rare occasion when it just seems like it would be special to have a fire.
ReplyDeleteI love your fireplace! I wish we had one. Someday!
ReplyDeleteI love your cute ruffley top! And the red shoes are fantastic!

ReplyDeleteoh, the ruffles on your top with the brooch! yes, we have a fireplace that we don't use. it's so weird that nearly, if not all of the houses in texas have them. i mean it's hot here most of the time. wtf?
