Men's Shirt & Trouser Socks - Gap; Shoes- Charlotte Russe; Purse- Aldo; Brooch- Gifted; Purple Blouse & Necklace- Smart Set; Orange Tank- Kensie; Jean Capris & Ring- Thrifted; Nail Polish- Inferno by Wet & Wild
I'm not typically a jeans gal or menswear lady but this weekend I sported both and loved the end result.  My inspiration was Rachel Bilson for two birds' weekly challenge and I decided to personalize the look with floral trouser socks & bright layered blouses.  My man is a size XL so his clothes would look less cute and more ginormous on me so I relied on the menswear section at Gap for my masculine cream coloured shirt.

Today is Canadian Thanksgiving so besides a day off work (which is always welcomed), I am thankful for my (supportive) man, my (fun-loving) friends, my (loving) family, my (beautiful) home, my (strong body), my (good) health & my (adorable) kitties... not to mention my (fabulous and in-progress) clothes room that I can't wait to show off soon!

I used a vacation day on Friday to extend the weekend and I spent my four days off watching movies and tv, napping, cooking, exercising, reading, doing chores, dining out, spending time with my man's family, household shopping & relaxing.  It was the first time in a long time that I didn't have any concrete plans and I loved the freedom of sleeping in and moving throughout the day as slowly as molasses.

Back to reality, chaos and stress tomorrow- do you find it difficult to get back into the swing of things after a long weekend?

  1. Glad you got some downtime. We all need that. Changing gears and getting back into work-mode is rough. Love your outfit! Great colors.

  2. Glad you got to relax! We all need to recharge our batteries and your long weekend sounds perfect. I wouldn't be so bold to do the socks and open toed shoes like you did, but you rocked this! Heather

  15. emily, i thought that mens shirt was actually a white denim jacket. this outfit is divine! :) i always like a purple and red color scheme. the details of your fun socks, fantastic shoes, leopard purse, all tied in with the brown and gold accessories, delight me. i also admire the gathered purple detail on the blouse too. your loungy weekend sounds very nice. sometimes i struggle getting back in the swing of things, & sometimes i fall right back in, as if i never left.

  16. I love how you said 'slowly as molasses' in the same paragraph as ten verbs to describe what you did over the weekend. Lol!! This outfit has some pro layering! I'm really digging the socks with peep-toe shoes, and how the colours pick up on your tops.

One of my daily joys is reading the lovely comments you leave. It may take a day or two (or three, depending on how hectic life gets!) but I will stop by your slice of the blogosphere soon! xo Emily
