fly away home

Dress- Area (Boutique in California); Vest, Belt & Ring- Thrifted; Shoes- Suzy Shier; Necklace- E-Bay; Eyeshadow & Blush- c/o Make Up For Ever

When I look at the birds frozen in flight on this dress (purchased on my recent work trip to Marina del Rey), it reminds me of the '96 movie Fly Away Home (have you seen that movie? It's a tearjerker!) There's something about animal movies which tug at my heart strings the way no human drama can (for example, if there's a battle scene with a person riding a horse, I am more distraught when the horse meets his death; does anyone else feel that way?) And don't even get me started on The Land Before Time or Homeward Bound (my eyes well up just thinking about it!)

No I'm not taking a mid-photoshoot nap, I'm showing off the delicate pastel eyeshadows and coral coloured blush that Make Up For Ever sent me.

Speaking of animals, Mr. Marley wanted to say hi meow again (he's an attention seeking kitty if you haven't figured out by now!)

  5. your cat looks huge here! :P same thing with my dog when I try to take photos together, hehe.
anyway, I love the dress. it's gorgeous! and I know about those animal films.. when a dog dies, I usually can't hold the tears. I even cried when Beethoven was taken away in the first movie.

  6. awwww Mr. Marley looks adorable! I have never even heard of Fly Away Home. I usually don't like watching animal movies because they make me cry, but my favorite is Milo and Otis!

  10. nice pairing with the lovely dress & the (it reminds me of Egypt, & i like it), necklace bring all the colors together. the eye shadow is very subtle. is "fly away home" about geese? i think i might have seen that. emily, you're funny, "mid-photoshoot nap" is my fave phrase of this post.;)

  11. Mr. Marley is too cute and so are those cute little birds in your dress. I get sentimental too with animals in movies.

One of my daily joys is reading the lovely comments you leave. It may take a day or two (or three, depending on how hectic life gets!) but I will stop by your slice of the blogosphere soon! xo Emily
