4th of July butterfly

Dress (worn like this), Blouse & Belt- Thrifted; Headband- Zellers; Sandals- Old Navy

I wore this dress back in May but never got around to posting it. I wanted to wear it again re-styled for summer as part of my animal print week but alas it's packed away in preparation for the big move.  Butterflies, polka dots, mini square prints (and a playful ginger kitty) join forces in this ensemble for a pattern mixing party!

" We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty."  (author unknown)

I also wanted to give a big 4th of July shoutout to all my American readers! I may be Canadian (and proud of it!) but my best friend is American (representing New Jersey), I love vacationing in the States & my man and I plan to one day move to California so you could say I'm an Americanophile at heart!

Dress- Anthropologie; Belt, Clutch & Gloves- Thrifted; Shoes- Borrowed; Bracelet- Le Chateau; Earrings- Boutique in PEI; Flower- Blue Eyes Bridal

I wore red, white & blue today as I was lucky enough to be invited to the US Ambassador's 4th of July garden party in Ottawa. It's not everyday I get to mingle with politicians and ambassadors so I felt quite prestigious, (if only for a few hours!)

  1. Ahh that's so exciting and fun that you were invited to the party! I was watching the news and they showed the party. The Ambassador was talking about the food and it made me hungry and jealous... :P

Very cute outfit though! I love your take on the red, white & blue.

One of my daily joys is reading the lovely comments you leave. It may take a day or two (or three, depending on how hectic life gets!) but I will stop by your slice of the blogosphere soon! xo Emily
