coloured floral printing

Necklace- c/o Castellammare Designs; Pants, Denim Top & Cardigan- Thrifted; Shoes- Priceless, UK; Ring- Forever 21; Nail Polish- Fuchia Fever by Revlon

My thrifted floral pants have come out to play again, this time as part of my 'interior designer' ensemble that I wore while staging our condo (with much more comfortable shoes!) My man and I move into our new house at the end of July so I have started drawing inspiration from home magazines, decor blogs and tv shows.  Right now we only have enough furniture for a one bedroom condo so decorating a three bedroom house will take creativity as our mantra is cheap and cheerful (which was also the theme of my Mum & Step-Dad's wedding and it was a hoot!) The thing we're most excited about is having an outdoor space to call our own and plans for a veggie garden, cat playground & entertaining oasis are already being drawn up.

I'm participating in Megan & Keely's fashion challenge and combining this and that with my 3-in-1 outfit (floral, coloured bottoms and patterned bottoms).

Who or what inspires your home decor?

  1. oh emily, you impressed me again with the way you combined fierce shoes, fun pants, & that ring! my home decor style is inspired by 1960's.

  2. I am going to completely ignore the floral pants for a moment and go OMG I WANT THOSE SHOES BRB SNEAKING INTO YOUR CLOSET. Anyway the floral pants are fun and funky. I like a printed pant, even though florals aren't my preferred print, I can still appreciate them on others.

My home decor strategies are "utilize vertical space" and "Do I reeeeally need it?" However I share what is essentially a studio-sized amount of space with another human being(the Hubs) and every inch of our room is functional in some way.

  4. my inspiration comes mostly from my own head and from my boyfriend's head (luckily he's a constructor :P), so we don't have to hire strangers and pay them.

  12. Oh my gosh, your shoes are amazing! I've never seen anything like them. They deserve their own Twitter account or Facebook page. :)

Congrats on your new house! That's so exciting. Where are you looking for inexpensive furniture/decor/accessories to fill those empty rooms? Do you have a Pinterest inspiration board for your new place?

  15. I have a totally different style in every room! My kitchen is all vintage with red/black/white porcelain appliances and cookware, lots of polka dots and gingham, and little animal knicknacks everywhere. My bathroom is super mod, all spare lines of gray, black, plum. Then our bedroom has a sage, rust, brown, goldenrod tapestry comforter with tasselled pillows, dark wood bookshelves, and lots of old fashioned opulence.

By the way...these floral pants are so epic. I loooove them on yoU!

One of my daily joys is reading the lovely comments you leave. It may take a day or two (or three, depending on how hectic life gets!) but I will stop by your slice of the blogosphere soon! xo Emily
