Shorts- Jacob; Blouse- Thrifted; Sandals- Payless Shoes; Necklace & Sunglasses- Aldo; Earrings- Smart Set; Nail Polish- e-nuf is e-nuf by Essie

We all have characteristics about ourselves that we wish we could change.  Mine are that I'm a high-strung and anxious individual who over-commits.  One of my New Year's Eve resolutions was to take more downtime (or Emily time as I like to call it), unwind and not put so much unnecessary pressure on myself.  I am proud to say that I am no longer a type A+ personality, I've downgraded (or upgraded, depending on how you look at it) to an A- (speaking of A-, that was also my GPA in University, just sayin'!) I give myself at least an hour (much more when I'm feeling indulgent) each weekday evening to relax and I make sure to shut the computer off for at least half a day on the weekend.  This past weekend we headed up to a friend's cottage and spent Sunday afternoon eating yummy food, swimming, chatting and playing an intensely competitive game of Settlers of Catan.

  1. That's such a great way to look at things. I think an "A-" personality sounds absolutely fine. I need to take notes, since learning to relax was on my to-do list for the year as well. Really adore your casual outfit - those sandals are beyond adorable!

  2. woo hoo! you've upgraded! :) I need to do that, too... Looks like your weekend was relaxing and fabulous! The tempeh and hummus look delicious, and i adore the flowers in your necklace!

  3. Your downtime idea is fabulous - wish I could disconnect. Your outfit looks great - it's all co-ordinated down to the necklace and shoes seemingly without effort.

  4. Sounds like a glorious afternoon! I am very similar - always trying to get something done. But this weekend, between household chores, I did some much needed creating. BTW I love your necklace! So cute!

  7. fabulous is your outfit defined! those accessory details are divine. glad you upgraded to an A-. i think my college GPA was near that too. of course it's been so long, i could be totally mistaken. i know i graduated cum laude or whatever. was that the same for you?

  8. I totally feel you on this one. It's so hard to turn the computer off and half the time I just stare at facebook or something useless anyways! Waste! I agree, I try and turn it off in the evenings and have some away time outside on the weekends. Glad you had time to get away. Have you tried yoga?

  9. Emily this post looks so fun. I love your outfit and that necklace is an A++. Beautiful photos and those nails....gorgeous. dawn suitcase vignettes. We all have a little type A in us which is why we over extend ourselves and blog. dawn suitcase vignettes xo

Now, the outfit - I love the shirt, but I loooooooove the necklace!!!!!!!!! W-o-w!

  15. Great post. It's a good reminder to take time for yourself to relax. Sometimes I find it impossible to move away from the computer but it really does help.
I know this post is titled A-, but I gotta say your outfit is an A+ for sure! <--- cheesy, I know. I had to say it :)
