A long day of work called for another underground parking lot photoshoot but this time I was having car guilt. I'm not what you would call a great parker (even my drive-in park jobs turn out uneven) so when I had to park on the side of the road I did so with caution. Not enough caution apparently because as I was pulling close to the curb I heard a strange crunching sound. As I was driving our brand new car I winced and got out of the car. I didn't see anything so I thought nothing of it. I mentioned the sound to the boy when I got home and this was one time where patience was not his virtue. We rushed down to the parking lot and sure enough I had tore up (teensy) parts of the wheel's rim.
Me: "Oh well I don't see the big deal, it's not like I scratched the car's paint job, I'll just paint over the rim's damages with my silver nail polish"
The Boy: " You absolutely will not. Do you know how much this will ruin the car's re-sale value? It will cost at least $500 to fix!"
Me: "Fine. In a few years, when you decide to sell the car, come find me wherever I am (see what I did there?) and I will give you the $500 for the stupid scratch on the rim!!!" (cue me storming dramatically out of the room)
Author's Note: Do not get between a man and his expensive car, not even with your genius DIY nail polish remedy...

Honey you look fab!! And what's the fuss over a car?? Sorry, but I don't get it. It's just a thing...! (an expensive one, but still... a thing!). I'd do the nail polish thing! Great idea!! :)

Great post and I hate stuff like that over cars, especially how much a baby scratch can cost. Hopefully everything smooths over and he uses your nail polish ideal. :) You look really pretty and natural in these pics.
ReplyDeleteNice blog and thanks for your comment

I'm sorry about the car mishap and even sorrier about the boy's reaction. It's really no big deal. I hope he calms down.
ReplyDeleteHope all gets better soon. Love this outfit!!
ReplyDeleteAww. You've been having bad luck lately, haven't you?! I'm sorry to hear that. People get so protective over their cars. I drive my mom's old car, and although I have basically paid for it and it's mine (I pay the insurance, the tabs, put gas in the car, la de da and so on), every time I damage it (which, ehm, is kind of often since I also am a horrible parker...), it's HER car and we need to get it fixed RIGHT away. And normally it's just a little dent or ding or something like that, and it's like, um, really, no big deal. And it's not like I drive a big ol' fancy car. It's nice, but it's not like, $30,000 nice. Ugh. Rant over. In conclusion, I hope he chillaxes soon. Yes, chillax. Because I'm cool.
ReplyDeleteOn the positive side, you look absolutely gorgeous! I love your blouse, and your hair looks really nice up. :)

haha oh Emily thanks for sharing that story! The nail polish bit is priceless. The other day Brad discovered a steak of what looks like black eye pencil on the fabric of the ceiling (?) of his car. I hadn't even noticed, and am still trying to figure out how it ended up there!
ReplyDeleteOn a separate note, I love this look from head to toe. It's one of my favourites. I like the interplay between the modern shape of the blouse withthe puffy sleeves and elegant pattern.

The "boy" (at 54, boy is used loosely!) in this household had the same reaction your boy did, and we drive a 9 year old station wagon, so it must be a male reaction to car damage situation. I thought your silver nail polish was a good idea! You look great, kid. xoxo
ReplyDeleteThat is one chic outfit, lady. I would also have suggested the nail varnish remedy!
