Happy Mothers Day!

My Mum is my role model.  She has always been there for me, to provide advice and listen to my drama of the day.  On my last visit to England (where she had been living for the past 6 years) she was determined to teach me to cook, despite my pleas of despair.  Her motherly persistence paid off and I helped her make a cheese and onion quiche for Christmas day, which I later replicated (with relative success) for a brunch I hosted.

My Mum and Step-Dad moved back to Nova Scotia, Canada 2 weeks ago and they are busy renovating an 18th century home into a Bed & Breakfast.  She even started The Valley House in Canada blog to document their trials and tribulations.  My Mum is coming to stay with us in June and I've already started planning our itinerary, complete with a trip to Le Nordik Spa and Zen Kitchen.

My Mum means the world to me and even though I'm not able to spend the day with her, I want her to know how special she is to me.

Dear Mum, you are not just my mother, but my guru, my teacher, my shopping buddy, my best friend.  I feel blessed to be your daughter and to learn from you.  Love Em xox

Happy Mothers Day to all the wonderful Moms- may you be treated like a Queen for the day!

One of my daily joys is reading the lovely comments you leave. It may take a day or two (or three, depending on how hectic life gets!) but I will stop by your slice of the blogosphere soon! xo Emily
